Review: Dante Nail polish, "Coffee Beans" and "Heart Throb"
I’ve been on the hunt for some greyed out mushroom shades of nail colour as they’re my latest love. I’m a bit late to the party as fellow bloggers and YouTubers have been raving about Sephora by OPI’s varnishes for months. I’ve still never seen the famous Metro Chic in person but I feel I know her already.
Korea does brights and metallics very well but greyed shades are few and far between. When I did hunt, I found these two shades by a brand called Dante in Olive Young. I’ve never heard of the brand before. It says made in the USA but that doesn’t help much it could still be a Korean exclusive brand.
I was drawn to these two shades and bought them, along with a neon pink. I generally don’t like neon shades but i can rock fluro pink sometimes. “Heart Throb” is beautiful, a medium cool shade of lavender, cream finish with no shimmer. “Coffee Beans” is muddy grey/brown, the colour of wet concrete which I was looking forward to putting on my toe nails.
I was disappointed. The pigmentation on these is pretty sad. They need AT LEAST 3 coats. I generally believe a good nail polish should be opaque and bottle colour in 2 coats. The purple is acceptable with 3 coats but the brown still has bare patches with 3. Yuck. The formula is pretty thin which doesn’t help. I won’t apply more than 3 coats. Firstly, life’s too short. Secondly more than 3 coats and it takes too long to dry and life’s too short.
Such a shame that this hasn’t been a huge success. The brown one especially as I love looking at it in the bottle but on my nails all I notice are the uneven bald patches. Grrrr.
I won’t repurchase and can’t recommend these.
